Poppy’s World – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
The short version
- Your progress and journal stay on your device by default.
- A grown-up can enable optional sync using private Apple iCloud storage for the same Apple Account.
- The app has no adverts, tracking, analytics, in-app purchases or account to create. It does not send your journal to a developer-operated server.
- Exports happen only when a grown-up chooses to share a saved copy. Those files can contain a child’s writing.
Who we are
Poppy’s World is published by Digitalhope Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. We are responsible for the app and for personal information you choose to send directly to us, such as a support email. Contact support@digitalhopeltd.com for privacy questions or requests.
This policy covers Poppy’s World and information you send us about it. The app is designed for children to enjoy with a grown-up. A grown-up should manage family settings and contact support.
Information saved on your device
The app saves completed stories and activities, visited places, collected nature cards, favourites and the page you have reached in each story. Stars, badges and trail progress are calculated from those records.
If you write a journal entry, the app saves its title, writing, chosen mood symbol, date and last-edited date. An internal identifier distinguishes each entry and lets the app recognise edits and deletions. Sound preferences, reading options and your iCloud choice are also saved locally.
Poppy’s World does not ask for a child’s name, email address or date of birth. It does not request access to location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. It does not record voices or send notifications. The illustrated map is fictional and does not locate your device.
Optional private iCloud sync
iCloud sync is off by default. A grown-up can enable Keep memories across devices in family settings. This uses Apple’s private iCloud key-value storage on devices signed in to the same Apple Account. It syncs progress and journal records, including the edit and deletion information needed to combine changes.
The app distinguishes each device’s save using a device identifier supplied by Apple or a locally generated identifier in its iCloud storage key. It stores an Apple account-identity token locally to detect account changes. These identifiers are used for sync, not advertising or tracking. We do not receive your private iCloud adventure through a developer server or an app support account.
iCloud requires Apple’s services, an available Apple Account and sufficient storage. Apple’s processing is covered by its privacy policy. The app does not guarantee that a queued update has already arrived on another device.
Turning sync off stops new app sync requests; updates already handed to iCloud may still arrive. Turning it off does not erase earlier iCloud copies, local saves or exported files.
Stories, music and read-aloud
Stories, illustrations, activities and instrumental music are bundled with the app. Read-aloud uses Apple’s speech synthesis and voices installed on the device. The app does not send story or journal text to an external narration or generation service. Additional device voices may require a download through Apple’s settings.
Exporting and sharing
Behind the grown-up gate, Prepare a copy creates a local JSON file containing saved progress and journal entries. Share saved copy opens the device’s share sheet so that you choose where to save or send it. The app does not share it automatically.
An export can contain private writing. Choose a destination you trust and review the file before sending it. The selected service or recipient has its own privacy practices. Copies you save or send separately are not controlled by the app, and deleting a journal entry does not remove those exports.
Keeping and deleting information
Progress remains in the app’s local storage until that app data is removed. You can edit an individual journal entry, or choose Delete this memory and confirm. The active local save removes its text and keeps the entry’s identifier and deletion date so an older copy does not reappear during sync.
When sync is enabled, other devices apply the deletion when they receive and merge iCloud updates. Older copies may remain on an offline device, in a previous per-device iCloud save, in a device backup or in an export. Deletion is not a promise of immediate removal from every copy. This version has no in-app command to erase all progress or all iCloud data.
Removing the app removes its local app storage; it does not itself erase iCloud copies, device backups or files shared elsewhere. Device and iCloud backups are controlled by your Apple settings. We cannot open or delete your private app journal through a developer support dashboard.
App Store purchases and pre-release testing
Poppy’s World is sold as a one-time App Store purchase. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases. Apple handles payment; the app does not receive your payment-card details. Apple’s purchase records are managed by Apple.
If you choose to use a pre-release version through TestFlight, Apple may provide us with crash reports and feedback or screenshots you choose to submit, under its TestFlight terms. Those reports are separate from the app’s journal and optional iCloud sync. Check any feedback attachment for private information before sending it.
Contacting support
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever information or attachments you include. We use that correspondence to respond to the request and investigate the issue you report. Please ask a grown-up to contact us and avoid sending a child’s name, journal text, passwords or other unnecessary personal information.
Support correspondence is separate from your saved adventure and may remain in our support mailbox after an app entry is deleted. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information you have sent directly to us. Do not assume that deleting the app or disabling iCloud also deletes an email or attachment sent to support.
You can contact us about your privacy rights at the address above. You can also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes
We update this policy when the app’s privacy practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Review this page before enabling optional features if you have questions, or contact a grown-up and our support address for help.
