Letterbrook is a storybook word game for iPhone. Connect neighbouring letters on a six-by-six board to spell words, and every word brings a little colour back to the illustrated scene above it, as Finn the fox travels from a quiet woodland to harbours, gardens and a sky full of stars.
Each chapter asks you to reach a score and restore its scenery before you run out of moves: melt frost, fill rivers, bloom seeds and break stones. Some letters carry powers. Fire burns the tiles beside and above it, Rain washes away the column below its cloud, a seedling pot sends a vine up through the tiles above, and Boom clears everything it touches. Spell a word through a power tile and the board shows exactly which tiles it will clear before you commit.
There is no timer. Take your time, plan a word and watch what it changes. Twenty-four illustrated chapters across two journeys bring in one power at a time, each with a short tutorial, and there are free hints and a wordbook of more than 300,000 words.
Your progress saves automatically on your iPhone. Letterbrook plays offline, with no account, no adverts and no tracking.
